Improving PC Performance
We’ve all had those moments of frustration where we question what’s going on with our laptop and decide that shutting down the laptop or closing the lid is maybe the best solution.
After all, how often have you heard the quote, “Have you tried switching it off and back on again?”
How can I help the Performance?
With so many of us working remotely, it can be easier to close the laptop lid and return the next day, leaving software open for the next day to make the day start easier.
When you do this, it places the computer into a state referred to as “Sleep mode”. In Sleep mode, processes are kept running in the background, which in turn slows down your machine.
We fully recommend shutting your computer down regularly, which is important to keep it running at its best.
When and how often?
However, restarting your computer isn’t just for resolving performance issues.
As part of your Lugo Support, we proactively send out security updates to all laptops. Your laptop may have downloaded an update, and without restarting the installation will not be setup correctly.
We will shortly be introducing notifications sent to your laptop advising when a Restart or Shut Down is required to apply these security updates.
